Man, so here’s the deal. Doug Jung, the dude who wrote Star Trek Beyond back in 2016, is taking the reins on this new Mass Effect TV thing. Yeah, you heard that right. For some reason, I get all excited over this stuff even though I’m still stuck on an Xbox 360. Anyway, heβs gonna write it and be the showrunner. Pretty wild, huh? Oh, and remember The Cloverfield Paradox? Yep, that was him too. And two episodes of Mindhunter on Netflix. Thatβs a show I only watched ’cause I was bored, but ended up loving. Figures.
As if that wasnβt enough on his plate, heβs also busy with this Apple+ historical drama, Chief of War. Sometimes I wonder when these folks sleep. Do they just run on coffee fumes and stale donuts?
He’s not doing this alone though. Dan Casey is tagging along, and Michael Gamble from EA is jumping in. Teamwork makes the dream work, or so they say. Mass Effect fans are probably bouncing off the walls, but Amazon, who gave the green light back in November 2024, hasnβt said when itβll drop. Darn, I hate waiting.
Speaking of Amazon, they also dished out a Fallout TV show. Heard itβs doing pretty well, so maybe they know what they’re doing? Maybe. They’re launching a second season this year. Kind of makes you wonder if video games are becoming the new books for TV adaptations. Makes me feel like my childhood is coming back around, only better.
