Alright, so here’s a thing. Holdfast: Nations at War – yeah, that historical shooter folks are yapping about – is finally hitting the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on July 9. Bet console players are itching, right? Must be nice getting into a game that’s already got PC players singing its praises. (Seriously, it’s got a “Very Positive” on Steam. That’s gotta mean something, or maybe not.)
Now, Holdfast isn’t your run-of-the-mill shooter. It throws you right into the chaos of the Napoleonic Era and WW1. Wild, right? Imagine 150 players going at it like some historical brawl. It’s like controlled chaos, I guess. Maybe controlled isn’t the right word. Who knows?
Anyway, where was I? Oh, right. This game’s popping up on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and it’s been quite the journey. Started in early access way back in 2017, launching fully on PC in 2020. Feels like forever ago. And they’re all about those meme moments, too. The trailer’s packing some laughs from player clips – good stuff if you ask me. Proximity chat adds an extra layer. You’re yelling orders or, you know, just yelling. It’s a thing.
What’s cool is, you get to pick from a bunch of historical factions. Land or sea – take your pick. There’s a smorgasbord of 27 classes, 8 factions, and 70 maps. Oh and customization galore! Over 100 unlockables from emotes to weapons. And crossplay! Xbox, PlayStation, PC – all one big happy battlefield family.
So, console folks, you got four editions to choose from (confusing, eh?). The Standard includes the game and Frontlines WW1 DLC. Napoleonic throws in some music and packs, Great War swaps packs – don’t ask me why. Collector? Get everything. Easy peasy.
PC crowd? Don’t feel left out. There’s a Steam sale running till July 10, slashing the game to $4.99. If that’s not a steal, I don’t know what is. Grab those extra packs while they’re discounted. New console folks joining in might make the battles even crazier – now’s as good a time as any to jump in.
