Sure thing. Let’s dive in, and forgive me if I wander a bit — my brain’s all over the place today. Anyway, the Steam Deck. You heard of it? It’s been making a splash. Or, well, it was splashing until all these other handhelds came out, now it’s more like a gentle ripple. Still cool though. Just Steam games? Nope, think again!
Okay, side note: I always grab those free GoG and Epic games. They’re free! But then, somehow they just pile up. You do it too, right? Anyway, here’s the sweet part: with the Heroic Games Launcher, your library’s suddenly portable. Imagine playing those in bed, or — I dunno — on the bus. Weird mental image, but it’s a thing!
Oh, yeah, big focus of my recent deep dive is integrating this Heroic Games thing into my Steam setup. I like things neat, but getting there was a whole thing. First, I flicked the Steam Deck over to Desktop mode (note to self: figure out why). Then, thank heavens for the Discover app, which, by the way, is a bit of a software treasure chest. Heroic’s in there, hidden like a sneaky gem.
Jumping through prompts, setting up the Epic account because, hello, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles — totally hooked on it. And, fingers crossed, everything goes smoothly with Wine settings (not the drink, though perhaps… never mind).
Honestly, it’s like magic. Adding the launcher into Steam itself, making it all feel cohesive. And suddenly I’m there, jazzing up the look with downloads from this site — SteamGridDB, for those curious. It’s artwork galore! Trust me, it makes the experience pop. Does anyone use ‘jazzing up’ these days? Probably not. Ah well.
Then, I wrap this all up by toggling back to Gaming Mode. Ta-da! Seamless transitions need not apply!
But, hey, before I get carried away — yes, more than I already have — I need to mention one last bit. Custom artwork because, well, it just looks better. Doesn’t everything deserve a little aesthetic love? Maybe? Probably?
And there we go. Sorted. Now every time I fire up the Deck, the Heroic Games Launcher is just right there, not lurking in the depths. Bringing games to fingertips worldwide, or you know, at least to me on my sofa.
