Man, okay, so there’s this new game, right? DOOM: The Dark Ages. And it’s already got, like, 3 million players. Crazy, huh? It’s a first-person shooter from id Software and Bethesda Softworks—those folks know their stuff.
Bethesda’s Bluesky was all like, “Hey, we hit this milestone way faster than DOOM Eternal did.” Makes sense, though, since it’s available straight away on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. That’s a big draw for gamers, I guess? Plus, being Xbox first-party and all.
Anyway, I wandered onto Battle.net because Microsoft’s been trying this thing where they launch their Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda games on Blizzard Entertainment’s PC platform. Fascinating move or just them being fancy? Maybe both.
And then there’s this part: DOOM: The Dark Ages lets you battle demons on a dragon. Yeah, you heard me—dragons and mechs. How’s that for variety? And with Xbox Play Anywhere, buy it once, play everywhere. Neat, right?
Oh, and get this: they’re pushing out an update with Path Tracing—whatever that means. Just better graphics, I guess? June’s the month for that. And there’s a campaign expansion coming, but no one knows when yet. Remember DOOM Eternal? Their DLC was split in two—The Ancient Gods Part 1 and Part 2, October 2020 and March 2021, like.
Speaking of my thoughts—I gotta say, bashing demons or watching dragons go wild never gets old. I mean, DOOM’s always been about that fun, even if it’s a tad silly now and then. Can’t wait to see what goodies they throw at us next.
And yeah, it’s on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5. If you’re into that sort of thing, maybe give it a go. Or not. Up to you.
