Whoa, so EA’s pulling the plug on Anthem. Finally, right? I mean, who even saw this coming for 2026? I think I read it on their blog—somewhere buried in there, they said it’s happening January 12th. What’s weird is you can’t buy any game coins after that date, but you can still mess around with the ones you already have. Odd, huh?
Anyway, EA was all like, “Thanks for sticking with us.” Y’know, the usual thank-you notes — short but sweet, I guess. Something about dedication, which really makes you wonder how many stuck around till the end. Not that it matters now.
Oh, and they were super clear there aren’t any layoffs … yet. But honestly, who knows? It’s not like the gaming world doesn’t have its surprises.
Speaking of surprises—remember when Anthem hit back in 2019? BioWare, EA’s darling, was going big with this live-service gamble. Man, those early days were wild. Heard the development was a bit of a train wreck afterward, too. Or was it beforehand? Eh, details blur with time.
Anyway—or wait, did I mean to say “but”?—BioWare tried patching things up, remember? They even talked about something called Anthem Next, like a full reboot. But no, that tanked too. Probably best it’s getting canned now. Feels like an overdue farewell, or maybe I’m just rambling at this point.
