Alright, here goes nothing. Let’s see if I can make this sound like I just ramble on about Pokémon cards like they’re the secret to happiness. Seriously, why do I get so caught up in this stuff?
So, Pokémon TCG Pocket’s new expansion just like dropped out of the sky — the Wisdom of Sea and Sky thing. It’s got this whole weird vibe around it, probably ‘cause of some controversy with fan art or something. Who knew cards could stir up so much drama, right? Anyway, they rolled out new heavy hitters like Ho-Oh Ex and Lugia Ex. Pretty dope for Pokémon geeks, I guess.
One of these fresh decks got Umbreon Ex as the muscle — and get this — when you pair it up with some Greninja fellow from Genetic Apex, it’s like game over for your opponents. Seriously, it doesn’t just attack; it’s invading the whole bench! Why am I telling you this? I dunno, maybe ‘cause it’s been popping up everywhere and kind of has people freaking out over the packs or whatever they’re called.
Oh, speaking of packs, you ever noticed how they split those into a couple — like two or three options? The Logic Department must really scratch their heads thinking up this stuff, right? So, this new set — Wisdom of Sea and Sky — it’s got two options too. One for Ho-Oh, another for Lugia. Seems like they didn’t get the memo on equality though, ‘cause Ho-Oh’s pack leaves Lugia’s in the dust by miles.
So, why is Lugia’s pack such an uphill climb? Well, exclusivity, I guess. Kind of like how games have their unique critters on each version. Most hot Ex cards land in the Ho-Oh pack. Meanwhile, Lugia’s trying but can hardly keep up. Sure, it’s got a cool Pichu and a thing with Dragonite Ex from Eevee Grove, which was last season’s craze. Also, there’s this card called Elemental Switch and support from a character named Lyra — they’re getting some attention. Yet, it all feels a bit like… meh?
Now if we talk Ex cards, Lugia’s selection resembles stale bread. We’re talking Shuckle Ex, Kingdra Ex, Lanturn Ex, and yes, Lugia Ex itself — which sadly wears too many hats needing like three different Energy types. Espeon Ex gets a pass, I guess, if you’re into Eeveelutions. But man, it seems they kinda missed the point here.
Turning tables, Ho-Oh’s pack? Now that’s the jackpot. Crobat Ex, Umbreon Ex, Donphan Ex, Ho-Oh Ex, Skarmory Ex — these could be like the dream team if cards were actual people. Plus, there’s stuff like Magby and Hitmontop, and a couple others—Zubat for poison trickery and some Silver card messing with opponents’ stuff. Even a Steel Apron that sounds like it’s got some techie gimmicks or whatnot.
So yeah, Ho-Oh’s pack practically screams “open me!” It feels like the guys behind these cards threw all the cool confetti in one spot. Lugia’s pack? Eh, not so much. Skarmory Ex from Ho-Oh’s crew might be the weakest link, but it still stacks up against the best from Lugia’s side.
And there you have it—like two packs going head-to-head and we’re just here watching the drama unfold. Not sure why I’m this invested, but hey, everyone’s got their thing, right?
