Okay, so here’s a thing. Imagine, if you will, someone told me my latest obsession – that Netflix gem, KPop Demon Hunters – somehow mashed up with my all-time fave, the universe of Star Wars. You’d think I’d lost the plot, right? Like, what’s Cal Kestis, Bode Akuna, and Merrin chasing after with Rumi, Zoey, and Mira from HUNTR/X? Feels bizarre.
But hey, surprise! Turns out they both really dig smacking their foes with style. Who knew?
This mind-blowing video from AnimatedJen popped up. Seriously, if you need a jolt of “heck yeah” to get your morning going, give it a whirl.
Picture this: Cal Kestis and crew wrecking the Empire’s day with the tune “How It’s Done” from HUNTR/X echoing in the back. Okay, they aren’t doing this while, say, soaring from a crashing plane, but man, their moves are epic.
“More action? Cal, they definitely want more,” quips Bode, just as Cal roughs up a shoretrooper. Bode’s all jetpack-flying, and Merrin does this killer spin with her staff. Gets your adrenaline pumping, right? Only a minute in, and I’m properly hyped.
AnimatedJen – gotta love ’em. Been following their work, and the dedication to this alternative take on Cal is just wow. An Inquisitor version of Cal? Yes, please! People love the Jedi games, and many dream of seeing these characters in live-action someday.
That’s the magic of Star Wars for me – fans mixing things up and creating unique stories. Would “canon” Cal, Merrin, and Bode bust out K-Pop to clobber stormtroopers? Nah. But why not dream? Let’s call them MANT/S now. Oh, and Cere Junda as their manager? Somebody get this on AO3, pronto. Modders, get those outfits ready, too. Much appreciated!
As for me, I’ll be back with Jedi: Fallen Order, cranking up “Takedown” and slicing through Imperial baddies.
