I’m just gonna dive right in here, but you ever notice how everything just keeps getting more expensive? Seriously, it’s like my morning coffee now costs as much as a movie ticket used to. Anyway, Shuhei Yoshida, this big shot from PlayStation – if you know, you know – had some thoughts on this whole game pricing saga. I stumbled on this chat through some YouTube rabbit hole. I think it was on Critical Hits Games or something. Maybe. Don’t quote me on that – GamesRadar helped me piece it together.
So, Shu’s like, “Look, games should’ve been more expensive ages ago.” Apparently, compared to other stuff that’s shot up in price over the years, games have been chillin’. He’s got a point, I guess. I mean, you ever try to buy a fresh avocado these days? It’s wild.
Then he hits us with, “Why should all games cost the same?” Good question, Shu. Really gets the ol’ gears turning. Like, not every game is a blockbuster masterpiece; some are just there to kill time, ya know? So why not let developers decide what their game is worth? Could be genius, or maybe just common sense. Depends who you ask.
And then he says something like, “$70 or $80 for a great game is a steal.” I stopped for a sec there, looking at my absurdly expensive coffee, and thought, “He’s probably right.” Compared to other entertainment – like concert tickets or a day at an amusement park – some of these games are packed with hours and hours of gameplay.
So, he wraps it up with a mic drop moment. Basically, it’s like, “Choose wisely how you spend your cash, and maybe don’t whine about it.” I mean, fair play. It’s your money, your call, right? Maybe that’s a bit blunt, but hey, sometimes the truth is.
And, um, yeah. That’s pretty much the gist of it. Or maybe I missed something… Who knows.
