Man, so there’s this site—NWS2U.com, ever heard of it? I hadn’t until now, but apparently, it was like the mecca for folks grabbing pirated Switch games. Anyway, the U.S. authorities swooped in and bam—it’s gone. Now when you visit, you’re hit with this page full of official-looking logos from the U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI. It’s oddly intimidating, like when my neighbor got new security cameras and we all felt watched. Randomly Dutch folks are involved too—Fiscal Information and Investigation Service or something. Didn’t even know they were into this stuff.
The message there is all official: something about seizing the domain under some code, “18 U.S.C. § § 2323,” okay sure, but basically, wannabe pirates now have to go fishing for ROMs elsewhere. Not that I’m promoting piracy. Just saying.
Nintendo, though, they’re like the Elves of Intellectual Property Protection. Seriously, you can’t even breathe near their stuff without them knowing and—bam!—you’re banned. I’ve heard they block any non-Nintendo connection thingies with the Switch 2. Third-party USB-C hubs? Forget it, unless you’re using their official docks. Remember when the Brazilian government got ticked off about this and called them out? Unexpected, but kinda cool to see someone standing up to the IP-troll giants. And if you got banned but didn’t actually pirate? Nintendo’s like, ‘Oops, our bad,’ if you prove your innocence. How forgiving.
So, the Switch 2 is like the hot new thing, everyone wants it. Outselled the OG Switch by a cool mill during opening weekend, no biggie. Why’s it so popular? Those exclusive games, I guess. Even though, let’s be real—the hardware isn’t as beefy as some others, like the Steam Deck or that ROG Ally X beast. Anyway, people are loyal to the titles.
Oh, hey, by the way, if you want tech updates, apparently Tom’s Hardware is the site to follow. Just hit their Follow button or something. I mean, I should probably check them out too—when I’m not busy watching cat videos. Priorities, right?
