The boss of Nintendo, Shuntaro Furukawa, had something to say, and it kinda stuck with me. So, here’s the thing: there aren’t enough Nintendo Switch 2 consoles floating around, and it’s turning into a bit of a mess. Furukawa’s taking the blame, saying sorry and all that jazz, trying to fix the production lines, or whatever that means in corporate speak.
Apparently, everyone and their cat wants one of these consoles, like in almost every country. Furukawa made his apologies right in front of a room full of important folks at some shareholder meeting—bet that was a fun party.
You know how sometimes you put your name in for a raffle, and you’re just aching to win? Yeah, Nintendo did that for the Switch 2 in Japan. People went wild—with over 2.2 million hopefuls. But most were left empty-handed. Imagine getting that many people excited, just to tell them better luck next time. Ouch. Four of these lucky dips have happened, and a fifth is coming up. Fingers crossed for those still waiting, right?
Okay, off on a tangent: stores finally started selling these consoles upfront instead of the raffle nonsense. Hooray for progress, I guess.
Nintendo’s lineup is looking like a greatest hits album. Big games like Mario Kart World and, oh man, Donkey Kong Bananza on its way soon. I’d mark my calendar for July 17th, seriously. Then there’s Super Mario shenanigans, a new Pokémon, and even Metroid, but that’s all the way in 2025—talk about making us wait.
So yeah, if you’re in the mood to splurge, the prices are pretty much fixed wherever you are. But just in case your wallet needs a hint: £395.99 if you’re in the UK, €469.99 across Europe, and $449.99 stateside.
Anyway, they dropped a trailer or something, but let’s be honest, we all just want the real deal in our hands. Patience, they say, is a virtue. Or maybe it’s just annoying. Who knows.
