Okay, so THQ Nordic’s 2025 Showcase just finished up, and man, it was packed. There are all these new deets on games like Tides of Tomorrow, SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide, and that Gothic 1 Remake thing. Kind of wild, right?
Let’s get into it — or not — but yeah, some highlights for you.
First up, we’ve got Reanimal from the folks who did Little Nightmares I & II. It’s this creepy new adventure thing. There’s a trailer with all these freaky environments and characters, like monsters you’d rather not meet (but you will ’cause, gameplay). It’s got both online and couch co-op, so scare yourself silly with friends, maybe.
Oh, and then there’s SpongeBob and Patrick in Titans of the Tide. They didn’t just nail it, they had David Hasselhoff doing some tunes for it. Like, what even? You can switch between SpongeBob and Patrick, which SpongeBob fans have apparently been begging for since forever. Pre-order it and you get this Natural Costume DLC thing free. There’s a fancy Ghostly Edition with extra goodies too, if that’s your jam.
And oh, speaking of role-playing games, they’re resurrecting Gothic with this remake. Alkimia Interactive’s totally going all-in on it. You can already jump into a demo called Nyras Prologue, which doesn’t spoil a thing from the game. Love that.
Eternal Life of Goldman was next on the list. It’s like colorful but also dark? Think platformer where you need perfect timing but also get to explore. Sounds like a mood, right?
Then there’s this game Tides of Tomorrow. Very narrative-heavy, with decision-making that seems to impact everything. Digixart, the team behind Route 96, is really pushing this new asynchronous gameplay feature. I mean, choose wisely or something.
And if you’re into smashing cars, rejoice! Wreckfest is getting a sequel. The original was that demolition derby madness no one forgot about. The follow-up is heading to PS5 in 2026. Because, you know, sometime isn’t quite vague enough.
Also, they’re revving up for Titan Quest II. More mythological fun, this time with a class-less character system? Combine masteries however you want. Does that sound like too many options? Maybe, but it’s happening.
And for those who miss the crashy-chaos of Burnout, Wreckreation is promising big things. Open world meets customization meets racing over, wait for it… dinosaurs? Yep, dinosaurs.
So, yeah, that’s most of what went down. If you’re off to Gamescom, you’ll actually get to try some of these out. Lucky you.
