Uhm, so—right, about this, Maelle. She’s like… totally not getting wrecked. I mean, who else can say that? By the time Act 3 hits, she’s got this full-on skill tree happening. Seriously, it’s wild. Some say it’s like, the most OP thing ever for a game character—any game, not just this one. Pre-patch days were something else. There’s a story (no idea if it’s true, but it stuck with me) where Maelle could deal BILLIONS of damage. Literally. Like, what even is that?
Anyway—oh, right, yeah—post-nerf, she’s still the queen bee of destruction in Clair Obscur. My brain kinda skips a beat just thinking about it. I often find myself just setting the stage with other characters—like, uh, Lune can burn enemies, then Maelle swoops in. Bam, Swift Stride, then she’s in Virtuoso Stance. Ever seen 200% damage in action? Chef’s kiss.
But also, here’s a thought—some people don’t just wanna win, they wanna smash the game into pieces. Figuratively, of course. While Maelle’s got her fans, Sciel isn’t just sitting in the backdrop, twirling her scythe. No sir. She’s quietly, or maybe not so quietly, a powerhouse if you’re patient enough. Like, who knew right?
Now, if we’re talking damage dealing duos, Maelle and Sciel are the MVPs of Clair Obscur. Lune can throw down numbers too, sure, but she’s more like… a team player. I still haven’t cracked the code on Verso’s Perfection. It’s all a bit, I dunno, mysterious? And Monoco—don’t get me started. He’s tricky. Tried punishing enemies with him, but billion damage? Maybe in another life.
Even though Maelle’s Stendhal got nerfed—last May I think?—apparently, “you absolutely still can” crush the game. Sandfall said it. The Renoir’s Drafts level… woof. Talk about a nightmare. Even the best builds struggle there. It’s like, a rite of passage or something. You’ve gotta feel it to believe it.
