Stainless Appoints Ben Gunstone as CEO

Alright, so here’s how it went down: Stainless Games, the brain behind Carmageddon (yeah, that insane car combat game) just shook things up a bit. Ben Gunstone, the guy who’s been kicking around there since 2022, got the nod to be the big boss—Chief Executive Officer. Replacing Patrick Buckland, who’s been wearing the CEO hat since, like, 1994. That’s practically ancient, right? Anyway, Ben came on board as a game director, then somehow turbo-boosted his way to operations director, and now… yeah, the top spot.

Before this gig, he had a stint at Dovetail Games. Not sure what he did there, but clearly, it didn’t suck. So, Ben’s all excited and humble (his words, not mine) about steering the ship at Stainless. Honestly, I think he kinda idolizes Patrick. Said the dude created some amazing legacy or something. Not sure if he meant the game legacy or just good vibes, but hey, who’s counting?

Patrick himself—gotta love this—quipped about turning 62 this year, joking he doesn’t look a day over 70. Classic. Anyway, he’s stepping back a bit. Not going away, just sliding into the role of Executive Chairman. Sounds chill, doesn’t it? He still owns most of the company, calls it his baby—aww, cute. He’s hoping to focus more on making kick-ass games instead of drowning in CEO stress. Trusting Ben with the day-to-day grind seems like his way of saying, “You got this, man.” Onwards and upwards, Patrick says. Guess we’ll see where this wild ride goes next.
