Nintendo just dropped a bombshell, kinda. Did they mean to do it like this? Who knows. Anyway, August 14 marks the arrival of Drag x Drive, a game that’s all about wheelchair basketball and, oh yeah, those crazy mouse controls on the Switch 2. And hey, that’s not all happening that day — Madden NFL 26 parachutes in too. I mean, how do you pick one over the other?
Okay, side note: Drag x Drive tells us a bit more than you’d think about what’s going down with Switch 2 in 2025. I swear, the game calendar’s like reading tea leaves or something. They’re selling it for $19.99, which screams “experiment” to me. Not in a bad way, just… you get it.
August sounds like Nintendo’s shaking things up — Star-Crossed Land, part of the Kirby universe, is smashing in with more Mouthful Modes. Honestly, sounds like a menu option gone haywire.
Oh, in July? There’s this rubik’s cube of releases: Donkey Kong Bananza and a rerun — Super Mario Party Jamboree’s coming alive with new TV content. Pattern, much? I think Nintendo’s totally about old-and-new mashups now.
September seems like a ghost town right now. Nintendo’s calendar’s feeling kinda empty, but no worries — third parties are stepping in. We’ve got Borderlands 4 and some more classics like Final Fantasy Tactics. Weird, right? Feels like rummaging through a cool old bookstore.
Fast forward to October, and jackpot — Pokémon Legends: Z-A drops in, bridging old and new. No clue how they swing it, honestly.
Then there’s 2025 teasing us with unexplored lands — Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond lurking without release dates. Metroid in September? Could happen. Anyway, Kirby might still be entertaining Switch 2 owners, no biggie.
The rest of 2025 is just a guessing game, pretty much. Maybe we’ll see Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, and probably Hades 2. Oh, Call of Duty too? Maybe. Not sure if these all fit, but they’re making Switch 2 a must-watch.
Oh oh, and don’t forget the GameCube ghost-in-the-shell appearances with stuff like Super Mario Sunshine and Pokémon Colosseum. Looking kinda epic.
But enough. Nintendo and surprises? They go hand-in-hand. Expect whatever you think, and then flip that on its head. Yup.
